North Korea???

Follow this link and tell me if you think it's worth it - I would be going during the more expensive time (520,000 Won + about 100,000 Won to get to Seoul and back - that's just under $750 Cdn).

It would be my only trip this summer...

  • The big, bold "No English Speaking Tour Guide" was an immediate turn off. I'm imagining one of the forced-march school trips, only worse.

  • Ya something like that... sounds good to go see it all, sure... and I'd even consider it myself if there were only a smidgeon of english provided to humour the foreigner. Either that or I would study my BUTT off to be able to understand a little more, and to be able to ask questions in Korean like "what time does the bus leave at?" I would also worry about being yelled at/ arrested or something, for something nobody told me I was doing wrong.

Yes I am up far too early. Please go look at my owl pictures? :)

  • Hi Its MOM Well we saw a bit of N. Korea & I know you wanted to see ALL of it, so go. It would be like us wanting to see Cuba before anything happens to Castro & the Americans march in ( which they will, they are all on stand by) and it will never be the same again.

    Love MOM

  • Sure, North Korea is like a time capsule, so it's interesting to study and learn about it. But I'm not sure why you'd want to contribute money to that inhumane regime.

  • Aww, man, that's too bad that you didn't get to go. I'd love to see Geum Gang San. I've got "Geum Gang San do shik hu gyoung" in vinyl wall words over my kitchen window. (here). My favorite Korean proverb, which I loosely translate as, "Before we climb the mountain, let's eat first." Always good advice.

Sorak San is the other end of the same range. You could go there.
