Weydaldo...

Yesterday was the perfect day to go to the beach... and we weren't the only ones who thought that!

Alex, Jessica and I had made plans to head to Weydaldo for a day before Jessica moves back to the US. What we didn't realize at the time was that Weydaldo, which is normally an empty stretch of sand is now a very popular place to visit. There is a new waterpark that has just opened there, and with it being summer (and school vacation), it shouldn't have surprised us that, for once, we wouldn't have the place to ourselves.

We had a great time anyway -- but all three of us are severely sunburned today. Something about sitting on a beach in the sun all day will do that to you.

Here are some pics of the day:

This beach is normally EMPTY... and there was a jetski and a lifeguard and swimming ropes and everything...

This lady is not only fully clothed (most Koreans swim with their clothes on... like, not a change of clothes, but just jump in the water with jeans and everything), but also wearing a visor-hat and a face mask! Of course, she's probably not sunburnt today, as I am.

That evening, we headed to the newer part of Mokpo for a Maritime Festival. I'd gone last year, and been absolutely amazed by the fireworks, so I'd been really looking forward to seeing it again this year. This year's fireworks were so-so (except if you went closer to the main stage, where Ty was and got to see cool acrobats and dancers and drummers on fire or something) from where we (Alex, Jessica, Zach, Camille) were standing - we had placed ourselves further away from the main part, since we were in no mood to be jostled endlessly in a huge crowd.

Zach and I had a bit of fun with a marine animals display... taking turns clubbing the seal with our sandals (Ohhhhh.... I know.... we were being ironic Canadians, okay??). Pics courtesy of Zach:

  • My husband pretends to club seals too. And we're not even Canadian (though we did spend three years in Newfoundland).
