SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!

Although winters in Korea are generally drier than Canadian winters, there has been a lot more snow this year than last year. A few weeks ago, we had a few wee snowstorms, but the snow never really stays.

Today, we woke up to a blizzard that hasn't yet stopped. The forecast is calling for more snow, up until Saturday. And, if it stays cold, we might actually get to make a snowman or snow angels or something.

Nattily dressed in pyjamas (me) and a tuque (Ty), we headed up to our roof to see what our neighbourhood looked like under the snow.

Ty and Sonagi strike a pose...
This cat's body language is clearly communicating, "I love being here, outside, in the cold, with snow pelting me, instead of curled up on the heated floor of the apartment."

Sonagi came with us (as you can see, she was overjoyed), because there's nothing better to do with your cat than put them in a snowdrift or, at the very least, under a few snowflakes. Cats love snow! And they show it by hunching down and mewling pitifully.

Our neighbourhood... very traditionalTy says that when we finally get to South Africa, I will have the same reaction to giraffes as he does to snow...

Then... a bit later, when it had stopped snowing as hard, we decided it was Jakob's turn to be tormented by the strange frozen white stuff. He tried to walk on the snow without actually having it touch his paws.

Why???? Why are you doing this to me????

Note: a snowfall is the only time ever ever ever that feline abuse is tolerated. Every other day of the year, the feline overlords must be treated with the utmost kindness and respect and not disturbed from their required 23 hours of sleep per day.

  • You should come back to Canada during winter, and then come visit me. You should experience the joy of having to body block two rambunctious Maine Coons every time the door opens. Maine Coons were bred for harsh winter conditions. The toe tufties on their feet mimic natural snow-shoes. They LOOOOOVE snow. It gets clumped in their fur like mini dread-locks, and is so much fun to bring back into the house when they're eventually corralled. I'll post some pictures to my Flickr page so you can empathise with my plight. I'm going to call to talk to you people on Sunday. You'd better CHEERFULLY answer the phone.

  • Hi Its MOM Wow you have more snow then us. Will you be putting up a Christmas tree this year? Ian & Laura helped me put up mine & we are sitting back admiring it. I have a few of your ornaments on the tree - one from Joanne from 1993, a home made turtle from a kit with a box on its back. Sentimental stuff like that. Fun! Must go -time for hot chocolate & peanut butter cookies.
    Love MOM
