Postcard from camp

Dear Mom,

Camp was fun. The counsellors (Sarah, Gary and Virginia) were really cool. Virginia yelled at us for waking her up at 1 am because 16 boys and girls were playing the "head to ass" game next door to her room (against the wall).

The food was always Korean. I like spicy tofu soup for breakfast.

We did lots of fun things... capture the flag in 100 degree heat and blazing sun, tie-dying t-shirts, rafting (but we all complained incessantly after 1 hour of rafting and made Virginia climb into the boat and paddle for us). We did a good job of speaking English at least 30% of the time. At the end, we did funny skits.

We wore the same stinky clothes for 3 days. Except when we all fell out of the rafting boats (that was the cleanest we got!) and then all our clothes were wet.

Virginia kept looking at the sky and demanding "Why did I sign up for this?", but I think that she had a really wonderful time.

*Ahhh, when will I learn to stop volunteering for camps with high school kids? But seriously... loved it. Leave for Busan tonight and Malaysia tomorrow, so no updates for a while.*

  • I'm glad that you had such a wonderful time at camp. It is my hope that you have an even better time on your vacation. PLEASE remember to buy ( and not spill food/drink on)a batik shirt, and a "Raffles" coffee cup. A good friend would buy these items first. That's what a good friend would do. Do I have a good friend????????????

  • In airport lounge in Singapore waiting for connection to Kuala Lumpur. It's started!

Was only white girl on entire plane from Korea and from Japan. Now, it is a shock to see all the "foreigners" wandering around the airport like it's nothing specil.

    I can't stop staring!

    xoxo

  • Got the heck out of KL after only one night. Had an interesting evening on the rooftop patio of my VERY barebones hostel chatting with a cute Malay guy.

Am now in Melaka. I LOVE THIS CITY. My guesthouse is absolutely beautiful.

Mom - Melaka reminds me of Havana, if they'd been able to paint and do some upkeep from time to time.

The shopkeepers and taxi drivers do not hassle you. The locals are curious, but do not stare - they are used to tourists here. So many nice things in teh shops.

Really nice atmosphere. The entire place is one big hysterical site. Am here for 2 nights before I head for Singapore.

Kelly - you would go nuts with all the crumbling churches etc.

    xoxo

  • Sur plsieurs de tes photos, on peut voir tes pieds. Sans vouloir être mauvaise langue, y aurait-il un petit laisser-aller côté pédicure?

  • Hi! Was your camp with the kids as fun as the camp you did with the kids, Jean Sasseville, Guy Bilodeau and I in the woods? At least it wasn't as cold, but maybe we were as dirty! Myrianne
