What do I do????

When I made the decision to move to Mokpo, I decided that I would ride my scooter, the Red Devil, all the way there. I don't know if people just didn't think I was serious about it, but it has been the main topic of conversation for me this morning. After talking to 10 different people and getting 10 different opinions, I have decided to just ask you all what you think I should do.

Please vote and/or comment.

What do I do with Red Devil?

  • isn't the ride REALLY FAR? if red devil had a roof i'd say yes drive her there but....how much will it cost you to ship it?

the idea of you driving a motorbike scares me...(mom, don't you agree?)

  • I say ship it, mainly because while you probably will make it, it will take a really long time to do so, and most likely won't be great for the bike.

but then, what the hell do i know.

don't think i've forgotten about the Rotten Harlots. I just don't have the design skills...

  • Is Jessica referring to t'shirts or jackets for your "scooter club" because Vanessa and I can design a t'shirt like nobody's business

  • My responses:

Lana: I've got vague tourist maps that include some white lines that may or may not be back roads. Does that count?

Brent: I am so nerdy, it hurts.

Kelly: If I install a roof on Red Devil, then can I go?

Jessica: Do Hyun gave me the green light, mechanics-wise. And the voting button seems to indicate that either a) my friends hate me or b) people actually think it's a good idea.

Carol-Ann: I will NEED a t-shirt to commemorate this trip. You are hired!

Besides, it will be fun to blog about.

  • See, I have a CAA card and a cell phone when I take my 10 speed out. You have maps, you have the time, what else do you need to consider? If you want to see the bugs and creatures on the side of the road, the bike is perfect. Plus you can stop wherever you want, whenever you want. Thoreau once got invited to visit a friend who lived far away. Thoreau determined a train ticket would cost 3 days wages. He also determined he could walk to his friend's house in 3 days. So, he walked. I talked myself into a "Go for it!"

  • I say go for it.... ride the bike and enjoy the adventure...

Then sell it when you get to Mokpo and buy that 125cc :D

I love that nerdtastic vote button... where can I get one?

  • the last time I rode a motorized two-wheeler, I hit a tree doing approx. 150 km/hr. so I would caution against any and all scooter riding in general, but then again that was over 20 years ago and I did walk away from it (mom's theory was that since I was so drunk, I was more relaxed upon impact and therefore was spared injury)
and that was back when i was young and single and adventurous and...uh, i can't remember now - was I making an argument FOR or AGAINST this endeavour?
